Metadata application profile: ANZ-LOM

This metadata profile supports the access, search, selection, use, trade and management of digital content. The profile is based on the LOM standard. It replaces Metadata application profile v2.2.

Metadata guidelines for digital content

Audience: metadata creators and reviewers.

These comprehensive guidelines are used to describe digital items. In turn, this facilitates searching and browsing of content. These guidelines:

• help metadata creators and reviewers to produce accurate, useful metadata;
• define The Le@rning Federation rules and recommendations to apply during creation of metadata;
• model best practice for educational organisations producing metadata to describe digital content.

Controlled vocabularies: educational and technical

TLF develops and maintains controlled vocabularies to meet stakeholder needs.

• Schools Online Thesaurus (approximately 11,000 terms): The ScOT project is a cooperative project between Curriculum Corporation, TLF and education.au limited. The project produces a thesaurus for describing the subjects of online content suited for use in Australian and New Zealand schools.
