Standards and specifications

Print page   Email page

The Le@rning Federation is committed to supporting international and national standards. TLF actively contributes to the development of standards and specifications to meet the needs of the school education community in Australia and New Zealand.

TLF has an important specification-setting function for schools online infrastructure. The specifications cover:

  • educational soundness: this ensures that learning objects and digital resources have end-use 'educational integrity';
  • technical issues: this includes interoperability, accessibility and metadata.

All contractors undertaking projects for TLF must comply with the specifications outlined below. Standards and specifications are updated in conjunction with extensive consultation with stakeholders, teachers, content developers and software vendors.

Content development

Project specifications and quality assurance processes ensure the pedagogical quality of content. The specifications are based on exemplary practice in the planning, design, development and use of online curriculum content. They are underpinned by principles of learner focus, integrity, usability and accessibility.
