Professional support

K–10 syllabuses can be accessed via the portal, and TLF content will soon be linked to the syllabuses.

DET promotes learning objects with the following understandings:

  • a learning object is a digital learning resource that can make a contribution to the development of a concept or outcome;
  • learning objects need to be placed into a learning context (for example, the objects should be embedded into a task or a learning sequence);
  • learning objects can be used in different ways (for example, as a stimulus to a learning activity, as an information source, to generate data or to solve a problem);
  • learning objects should be selected according to the learning needs of individual students or groups of students;
  • learning objects can provide students with access to learning experiences that are difficult to make available in a classroom (for example, because of safety, time or cost concerns).

We continue to work with staff in key curriculum projects to integrate the use of TLF content. The key projects are:

  • Getting it Right: Literacy and Numeracy;
  • Aboriginal Literacy Strategy;
  • Primary Science Project;
  • Online Teaching and Learning System.

We have created video-based case studies in which teachers demonstrate how they have used learning objects in the classroom. You can view these case studies on the K–10 syllabus portal site.
