Accurate metadata enables teachers and students to successfully discover relevant digital resources. It also assists educational jurisdictions to organise the resources into useful categories.

During the production process, a metadata expert adds information to describe each resource:

  • keywords;
  • Schools Online Thesaurus terms;
  • temporal and spatial data.

The Schools Online Thesaurus is a controlled vocabulary of education topics that was created by Curriculum Corporation, The Le@rning Federation and education.au limited to describe content destined for Australian and New Zealand schools.

The following documents describe TLF's metadata specifications in more detail.

Metadata guidelines for digital content

This guide was developed for those involved in creating and reviewing metadata for items published by TLF. It provides general principles and specific guidelines.

Metadata application profile: ANZ-LOM
